One of CLAHRC’s objectives is to Increasing research capacity to facilitate generation and use of research evidence within the NHS.  We have therefore devised a number of training courses to help NHS staff develop the skills to find, interpret and implement research evidence into practice; also to conduct research.  These and other related training courses are detailed in this folder.

These sessions aim to give attendees introduction to the different quantitative and qualitative research methods that can be used in health care research

These sessions aim to introduce methods that can be used to find reliable and appropriate research evidence to support business cases, support changes to services and inform decisions. 

Critical Appraisal

Critical Appraisal ( 5 Files )

 

These introductory sessions aim to introduce the concepts and skills needed to critically appraise research papers, and to think about the quality of websites. 

Ethics and Governance

These sessions aim to give an overview of the ethics and governance process. Issues for consideration are introduced and contact information for the relevant departments and organisations are provided  

Health Economics

These sessions aims to enable participants to understand very basic theoretical concepts in health economics and relevance for priority setting in health care decision-making

Statistics

These sessions aim to help participants to interpret basic research statistics from a journal paper and draw appropriate conclusions from research data. A session on how to conduct basic statistics using Microsoft Excel has also been run and the presentation is available in this folder

These sessions aim to give a brief overview to help in the design of effective questionnaires including the different types of questions and methodologies that can be used and communication tools and technologies

These sessions aim to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to plan and deliver systematic programmes and activities to implement evidence in clinical practice in NHS Trusts

These sessions aim to enable Trust staff to develop evidence based clinical policies and guidelines, drawing on relevant evidence and national guidelines as appropriate

These sessions aim to provide an introduction to the principles, concepts and methods for evaluating health treatments, services, policies and organisational interventions
